Oil changes at home in Grand Tunis, booked and priced online
The problem
An oil change at home needs a lot to line up: the car and its engine, the right oil and filters, a zone, a free slot and a price. Done by phone, every booking is a back-and-forth.
My role
I built the site and the API end to end: the car and product catalogue, the four-step booking tunnel, slot availability and the server-side price check.
Decisions
The browser never sets the price
The tunnel shows an estimate as you go. On submit, the server rebuilds the order from the database: car, engine capacity, products and labour. Oil is rounded up to the next half litre. A price sent by the browser is ignored.
A taken slot answers 409
Six slots a day from 08:00 to 18:00, twelve days ahead, Saturday closing after 14:00, closed on Sunday. If someone books your slot while you are on step four, the API answers 409 and the tunnel asks you to pick another.
Prices live in one file
Labour rates, slots and zones sit in one config file; cars, oils and filters in a catalogue that seeds the database. A car typed by hand falls back to 4.5 litres of 5W-30, so the booking still prices.
What it does today

- Express serves both the API and the built site in production, so it runs as a single service.
What comes next

- WhatsApp or SMS confirmation
- Online payment through a Tunisian provider
- An Arabic version
